A Review of Site Building Tools

Professional Designer
The main advantage of hiring a designer to make your web site for you is the time saved. You can concentrate on running your business while they make your site for you. The quality of a professional site will be much higher. This fact can be especially important for businesses that are larger or do the most of their sales over the internet.

You should not underestimate the skill and time required to make some of the more professional sites you see on the internet. If the quality of your site is very important to you then should seriously consider hiring a designer if you have little experience yourself. When selecting a designer you should always look at their design portfolio. This is to ensure that the web site you envision coincides with the style of the designer.

After selecting a designer, it will help if you provide them with examples of the type of site you want designed. These examples can be favorite sites of yours that you have seen on the internet. When negotiating the price of your design, you should always get a quote in writing to avoid hidden costs later. If your designer offers to handle the web hosting process for you, this may be beneficial however there are a few things you should be aware of.

  1. Always make sure that your designer registers the web site domain name in your name. Some less ethical designers will register the domain name in their own name and hold it for ransom later.
  2. Get the web hosting account user name and password. This is to ensure that you retain control over the account so you can make changes to the site yourself.
  3. Some designers will charge a premium for the hosting. They may bundle this cost with another monthly fee such as making updates to your site. You should always ask your designer how much they are charging you per month for web hosting and then check this against what the hosting companies are charging to make sure the are not charging you too much.
